2012 Paddler Training and Development Sessions
Training at the Reservoir
Normal Club paddling times at the reservoir are located here. With the exception of trips, training is usually carried out at these times
Joining a course
BCU 1 star and BCU 2 star :-
- Turn up at the reservoir on the start date of the course.
If you are unable to attend the course start date:-
- Talk to one of the coaches on a paddling session before the course is due to start.
- Contact Coaching Coordinator Dan, and he will email the coach on your behalf.
BCU 3 star courses - contact any of the level 2 coaches who can advise which of the coaches / lead paddlers to contact to join a course.
- The club aims to organise 3 star courses in Open Canoe, Sea Kayaking, Surf Kayaking and White Water Kayaking during the 2012/2013 paddling season.
Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT)
- contact the Coaching Coordinator (Dan Brown) or the FSRT coach (Keith Hoskin)
- contact the Coaching Coordinator (Dan Brown) or the First Aid Coaches Ian Robson and Brian Phillips.
- Courses will be arranged when there is sufficient demand.
Development courses are aimed at broadening paddlers skills an experience. Course dates and content are tbd at the moment
If you are interested in obtaining a level 1 coaching award or progressing to Level 2 or Moderate Water extension, contact the Coaching Coordinator (Dan Brown)
Chris Harper has arranged two White Water Safety and Rescue training courses for November 10th and 11th and December 1st and 2nd ,Details Here
Other courses
(e.g. Navigation, White Water Safety and Rescue) are arranged when there is sufficient demand - contact the level 2 coaches or the coaching coordinator.

This year's training and development programme is on similar lines to 2011. We are now privileged to have 31 active, volunteer coaches. SBDCC has long had the tradition of making free training available to members wherever we have suitable coaches. | |||
