Please remember to clean your boat & paddle before using it at the pool
Pool Sessions take place at Sherborne School Swimming Pool on Saturdays between 6pm and 7pm (8 pm for 2 hours sessions) see map below. There is only space in the pool for 10 boats, so you need to book each week by phoning. If you just turn up on the evening, you might be lucky to fill a space but more than likely will be turned away disappointed.
To Book a place, ring Simon on the club mobile (07928 721773)
The club mobile phone will be turned on between 6-9pm, Monday to -Thursday. If you can't get through it will either be because the pool is full (see website for status) or Simon has forgotten to turn it on (unlikely).
Volunteers with a tow hook to pull a trailer load would be appreciated. We will try to inform you when boats are available for loan/hire beforehand. Then, when calling to book a place, let Simon know that you also need boat/paddle/spraydeck/BA etc.
Pool Sessions cost is £4 per booked place (own kit) £5 if using club boats and will be collected by the club first-aider that will be supervising you (usually one of the coaches). This money goes to Sherborne School for the hire fees, so it's important that you don't disappear without paying (the coach will have a list from Simon).
Sessions are usually from 6-7pm. To maximise your time on the water,
All kit must be clean before being put in the water. You can either do this at home beforehand or stand outside the pool in your cossie doing it - its up to you! Leaves, twigs, snails and other detritus that gets into the pool should be removed (I know it's not always us that brings it in). Please don't walk around the pool edge with your outdoor shoes on.The session is for paddling, not swimming. You will not get any sympathy from the first-aider if you get hit by a boat or paddle while swimming when you shouldn't be. Please take care to ensure you don't hit your head on the pool side or other boats when capsizing/rolling.
Buoyancy aids are not mandatory - you may want to try capsizing/rolling both with and without. If you do use a BA then rinse the chlorine from it when you get home afterwards. Polo BAs and helmets are mandatory for the polo sessions.
