Polo  for Beginners, February 27th, 2010

6 lucky novices (and 1 Athol) were given an in depth beginners introduction to Polo on Saturday night. Surprisingly not the rough and tumble we associated with Ball games on the reservoir.

All in BAT’s, Athol, Ben, Claire, Jenny, Roger, Simon & Wayne were put through training paces which included:

• Speed Turns
• Passing Ball  to a partner
• Sprinting
• Tail Squirts

and the occasional capsize drill. At the end of the first hour, we took a break and then had a mock game of 3 a side which Athol Ben and Jenny won 5-3.

All in all a fun introduction to a side of kayaking which I for one have not seen before, and I didn’t know it was possible to get a 6 boat pile up in 1 corner of the pool!
